Data-driven characterization of the correlation between uniaxial compressive strength and Youngs’ modulus of rock without regression models

چکیده
The uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) and Youngs’ modulus (E) of rock are important parameters required during design stability analysis mining geotechnical structures. There is correlation between UCS E rock, the proper estimation such for reliable engineering analysis. However, limited quantity data pairs often available most project sites makes it difficult to estimate E. This study addresses difficulty by developing Bayesian approach characterizing site-specific joint probability distribution that data-driven, without use an empirical model. A major novelty proposed over previous studies does not require selection or integration a regression model as input characterize likelihood function in directly constructed from only their prior information inputs. incorporated into Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) simulation generate samples E, which then analysed marginal statistics, distribution, correlation. Real obtained compression tests on migmatites at Sanandaj-Sirjan zone Iran used demonstrate approach. distributions coefficient consistent with those measured adopted site. indicates effective can be when there need characterization site data. Simulated also results show quality inputs play role efficiency hallmark practitioners do determine select appropriate evaluate rock.

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...
Predicting the Young\'s Modulus and Uniaxial Compressive Strength of a typical limestone using the Principal Component Regression and Particle Swarm Optimization
In geotechnical engineering, rock mechanics and engineering geology, depending on the project design, uniaxial strength and static Youngchr('39')s modulus of rocks are of vital importance. The direct determination of the aforementioned parameters in the laboratory, however, requires intact and high-quality cores and preparation of their specimens have some limitations. Moreover, performing thes...

on translation of phatic communion and socio-cultural relationships between the characters of the novels
phatic communion is a cultural concept which differs across cultures. according to hofstede (2001), the u.s. tends to have individualistic culture; however, asian countries tend to have collectivistic cultures. these cultures view phatic communion differently. in individualistic cultures like u.s., phatic communion reflects speakers’ socio-cultural relationships in conversations. to see whether...
15 صفحه اول3D Characterization of Uniaxial Compressive Strength of Transversely-Isotropic Intact Rocks
The uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) of intact rocks is one of the key parameters in the course of site characterizations. The isotropy/anisotropy condition of the UCS of intact rocks is dependent on the internal structure of the rocks. The rocks with a random grain structure exhibit an isotropic behavior. However, the rocks with a linear/planar grain structure generally behave transversely-...
